Since ClubFlyers.com is based out of Wynwood, Miami’s art district, we have a deep affinity towards self-taught street artists, but that doesn’t mean we give any less credit to those who are classically trained; especially when they produce work like this artist here.
Italian artist Valerio D’Ospina spent almost 20 years studying fine art in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, and even spent some time as a teacher of fine art at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His CV is exceptional, as are his industrial-inspired oil paintings.
His work emits a certain vintage, aged quality without totally committing itself as a period piece, but the references are certainly there. Not only are his locomotives and steam ships reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution, but his paintings have a mood similar to the art of that time.
D’Ospina currently lives and works in the US.
