Thought-Provoking Street Art by SpY

spy

The term ‘street art’ can mean anything these days, from illegible scribbles on a hidden wall under some overpass to a block-wide installation piece that is as thought-provoking as it is creative. The work of Spanish street artist SpY has been evolving between the two extremes for the last two decades. The artist, who first emerged as a graffiti artist in the streets of his native Spain in the late 80’s, has lately been producing work that moves well beyond graffiti into the realm of museum-caliber installation pieces. His work juxtaposes elements of the urban landscape with elements of nature to touch on the subjects of surveillance, privacy, urbanization and ecological awareness.
