The New Clickable Paper App


Say goodbye to the old QR Code and hello to the new Clickable Paper.

Quick Response Codes, or QR Codes, are those square matrix barcodes that many marketers now place on products to make their ads and packaging interactive. When scanned, they allow mobile users to access the product’s dedicated site. It’s an interesting concept, but in reality, QR codes have had trouble catching on.

Which is why Ricoh, the electric company, has created a new technology called Clickable paper. Here’s how it works:

Essentially, users can snap a photo using the Clickable Paper app and the image will reveal a list of links, for example, links to Amazon or the option to share on Facebook. It provides more interactive options than a QR code does. Plus, it loses the unattractive barcode.
