If as a child you loved putting together K’NEX, Erector sets and/or 3D puzzles, then this one’s for you.

Leica, the camera brand whose name is eponymous with quality, almost released a snap-together version of their lauded M-Class rangefinder as a thank-you to visitors who purchased the M from a store in Sao Paolo.

The project turned out to be too costly, but Brazilian filmmaker Marcelo Ribeiro managed to get his hands on a prototype and make a video of the do-it-yourself process of putting this classic camera together. Sadly, this thing will never exist, but that doesn’t mean Leica fans everywhere can’t dream of the day they get a fake, snap-together camera of their own.
