Last year, the people running the art department at the New York International Latino Film Festival brought out their A-game when they set out to create a unique and eye-catching set of posters to promote their festival. The group creatively touched on stereotypes that are often created in movies in a series of pictograms that remain quirky and interesting, while also serving as a conversation starter. The entire set of posters is now scattered throughout the inter-world, but we have gathered a few of our favorites below to show you just how clever a well-composed marketing theme can be.

This year, for the festival’s last year before shutting it’s doors for good, festival organizers brought back their idea that films and movies are not the same thing by launching an online “movie recipe maker” that allowed visitor to create their own poster. Check out some of the creations below.
