Photographer Gives Homelessness a New Face

Shelter from the Storm is a homeless shelter in London that provides hot meals and warm beds all year-round. London-based photographer Rosie Holtom, a volunteer at the shelter, offered to photograph a group of the shelter’s guests the way they wanted the world to see them. The result was a photo project that would make anyone think twice about homelessness. With these makeovers, no one could ever tell that these people weren’t just like everyone else, with normal homes and jobs and dreams. The moral of the story: Never judge a book by its cover or a traveler by his garments.
