NASA’s Retro Posters Celebrate the Future of Space Exploration

nasa
During the Great Depression, The Works Project Administration (WPA) commissioned artists to design posters that encouraged travel to national parks and other tourist sites in the United States. Now, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) design studio is working along the same lines in an effort to draw attention to its own budgetary needs.

With its funding tightened as a result of budget constraints, the designers at JPL are seeking to spark the imagination of the people, with retro posters that advertise the potential of future space travel.

While these posters may present some far-fetched ideas, the demonstrate a brilliant use of imagination and flat design.
