Jason Ratliff’s Portraits Show the Superhero in Every Kid

As kids, our imaginations were possibly at their most active. We imagine ourselves as doctors, lawyers, and as the superhero icons we watched on Saturday morning TV shows. Now, through the art of Jason Ratliff, we can easily see how our imaginations projected larger-than-life personas as children.

These superhero shadows are projections of the ambitions that we had as children. The series originally started as a single piece, titled “Hero” which showed a young boy casting a colorful, low-poly shadow shaped like Superman. Following the overwhelmingly positive response that Ratliff received for that piece, he created the additional pieces in his collection, which he aptly named Super Shadows.

Prints of the series are available for purchase online at Curioos.
