“Gravity” Pushes the Envelope on Visual Effects

Ever since the teaser trailer for the eerie and visually stunning space thriller Gravity, there has been much buzz about the film. This week, we finally got to see the film, which stars Sandra Bullock in what could easily be the most technically challenging role of her Career.

The film, directed by Alfonso Cuarón Orozco whose previous work includes Y Tu Mamá También, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men, is the first of its kind to use robotic technology in its production. In a telling interview with Variety Magazine, Orozco details how he pushed the limits of available technology to produce a film that Avatar Director James Cameron claims is, “the movie I’ve been hungry to see for an awful long time.”
