Font of the Week: Benson Script

benson-scirpt

Developed by Kyle Wayne Benson, the eponymous Benson Script has so many features and add ons, that the typeface’s creators themselves have dubbed it, “…a script that is desperately trying to be anything but a script.”

The font family consists of a total of six fonts, featuring three contrast levels, and two styles. The varying styles of Benson Script are an experiment in the diversity of a single stem width, which ultimately has led to the creation of a unified, well-kerned family of fonts that can be mixed and matched to create a truly unique design.

The typeface, with its modernist, single stem length variations, provides for an easier reading experience than some ornamental fonts. The font’s forward focus on the geometric rationality between the letters provides for a unique combination of practicality and flair. Available for under $50, all 6 fonts can be downloaded here.
