#EmptyUnderground by James Whatley

James Whatley is the Social Media Director for an advertising agency in London (among many other titles). About six years ago, Whatley began a photography project that consisted of photos of London’s underground metro station when there was no one around.

Aptly titled #EmptyUnderground– An absence of occupance, what began as a solo project on Flickr, has now morphed into a blog where others can post their own photos of The Tube. It’s also a Twitter and Instagram hashtag.

The photos range from amateur to professionally edited, but they all manage to convey a sense of loneliness that only comes from living in a congested, crowded city.
