Dergin Tokmak: A Very Inspiring Dancer

There are plenty of random, interesting videos on the Internet, but when you come across a video of Danish Dancer Dergin Tokmak, it’s almost impossible not to stop and watch. At the tender age of 8, Tokmak was diagnosed with polio. Losing almost all feeling and becoming partially paralyzed from the legs down, he refused to let his physical limitations hold him down. Despite his illness, he didn’t want to be bound to a wheelchair. Instead, he adopted the moniker Stix and became a break dancer.

Tokmak now tours with Cirque du Soleil and has written a book called Stix ‘The Artist on Crutches’, which tells his amazing story and is currently available for purchase. Sadly though, you would have to be able to read German to understand it.

In the meantime, however, you can still watch his amazing moves on his youtube channel, although not all items are available for viewing in the US.
