DeepDream: An Art and Photo Mash Up!

Russian artists have figured out a way to use a neural network software to fuse art and photos into what can only be described as “Inceptionism”.

A software called DeepDream, which utilizes patterns in visuals, combines seemingly random images, creating something new.

The neural network was originally pioneered by Google, of course, but Ostagram users have managed to take a new spin on something that is already very radical.

Much like all visual art, you have to take a moment to take in these images in order to truly appreciate the experience. Some images are simply photos of people enhanced by textures and patterns that are not human, while others take on more psychedelic and fractal-like tendencies.

Among our favorites, some of which we’ve collected below, is the “vegetable man” as we are calling it, above. You can clearly see the outline of a man’s face but because every line and contour is literally a piece of vegetable, it really confuses the mind.
