Creating Crazy Cat Ladies Using Multiple Exposures

Anyone that ever owned a single indoor cat can tell you; having one cat can often feel like having 30 cats. The constant meowing, the neediness, the desperate clawing at the door can all add up, but for whatever reason, the little fur balls become a part of our families, an almost integral part of our lives. Our love for them only seems to multiply the more they knock stuff off the counter.

Now, in an homage to their furry friends, Montreal-based photographer AndrĂ©anne Lupien, who may very well be a cat lover herself, photographs cat owners surrounded by their cats. But the series, called “Crazy Cat Lovers,” isn’t just another pet portrait. Using multiple exposures and irresistible treats, Lupien creates the illusion of a room filled with cats that look identical, each of them playing around, jumping through the air, or generally making themselves seen, over and over again.

Below are some selected shots from the series. See more of Lupien’s work here.
